Spring and Fall Maintenance

We offer semi-annual maintenance services for your HVAC system for $130.00 and we will come out for a visit twice during the year (spring and fall maintenance.) This includes one air filter and being put on our “First Priority List” for service and you will receive 15% off for signing up for this HVAC System maintenance service.
We recommend that you have a licensed HVAC professional inspect your home’s ducts and cooling equipment for an “AC Tune-Up” semi-annually and perform “AC Maintenance”. Performing air conditioner preventative maintenance such as cleaning out vacuum vents, baseboard heaters and ducts helps the system work more efficiently and also helps with air quality. We recommend getting your chimney cleaned at least once a year and check to see if your fireplace is working properly.

Steps on How you can Save Energy

There are several ways you can save energy on your heating and cooling bills.

  1. Sign up for routine maintenance. This will make sure that your HVAC System is operating at its most efficient settings and that the parts and components are in good working order.
  2. Operate your HVAC system at optimum and stable temperatures. Consult your owner’s manual or with your service technician to find out the most energy-efficient temperature range.
  3. Seal your home from drafts. Seal air leaks in the attic, basement and crawlspace, and also around windows and doors. Any air leak in your home robs your HVAC system of efficiency since that heated or cooled air is lost. Ensure that all windows and doors have good seals before turning on your HVAC system.
  4. Beef up your insulation. It is wise to check your attic for proper insulation (A value between R-22-R-49 is suggested by the U.S. Department of Energy.)
  5. Install a programmable thermostat, so you can preset temperatures for different times of the day. Setting the thermostat to the coolest temperature in winter or highest temperature in summer you find comfortable. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, setting your thermostat back 10 to 15 degrees for 8 hours at a time during the heating season can save you 5 to 15 percent in heating bills every year.
  6. Change your air filters regularly. Changing your HVAC systems air filters once a month ensures the system has smooth, uninterrupted air flow.
  7. Use curtains, blind and drapes to help control temperatures. Window coverings can have a big effect on your home’s heating and air-cooling efficiency. In cooler months, harness the sun’s free warmth by keeping curtains open to south-facing windows. Keep shades or curtains drawn on the sunny side of the house, especially during early- and mid-afternoon hours during the summer months.
  8. Replace single-pane windows with newer double-pane models, which help reflect the sun’s rays and reduce energy loss.
  9. Apply a reflective coating to your roof. When replacing your roof, use light-colored shingles.
  10. Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents to create a cooler feeling and save on lighting costs.
  11. Install awnings or plant trees outside your home to create shade.
